Isn’t this because dealers just don’t stock them on the floor, and if you want a manual, they order one in from out-of-state?

It’s getting bad where I live (the Netherlands) as well, when looking at luxury cars. Only used cars tend to be bought from lots, new ones are generally ordered, but when I look at a used car site for 2015+ BMWs the numbers are rather disappointing. 449 automatic, 96 manual.
This used to be the other way around. Only the elderly and the disabled bought automatics. Things have been changing rapidly now that automatics don’t

suck the life out of a car any more.

And at least one of those two is actually an automatic that somebody listed incorrectly as a manual because it has paddles or “manual mode.”

I couldn’t find a single new 3 series on the lot at any dealer in Atlanta with a manual this spring. Heard at least twice “manager won’t let us stock them.” Audi on the other hand: several manual A4s to choose from. Guess who got the sale? This is what’s wrong with modern BMW in a nutshell.

DO NOT BUY YOUR BMW FROM BMW OF AUSTIN.
I bought a CPO from them, and they then decided they didn’t want to service it anymore. Classic BMW in Dallas picked up where they left off to protect the brand.
